Some Mainers at risk of losing SNAP benefits

Thousands of Mainers could lose SNAP benefits next year, according to a new decision by the federal government.

The Department of Agriculture made it mandatory that people who are unemployment applying for SNAP benefits only have three months to find a job or get cut off of the services. Maine social service workers say that’s a mistake.

Organizations across the state that work to fight food insecurity say this decision made by the Trump administration will hurt both those in need as well as the groups trying to help them.
