Group sits in the heat to draw attention to homelessness

1341339374On the longest, and one of the hottest days of the year, one group wants to make sure we don’t forget the homeless. The Preble Street Homeless Voices for Justice was sitting out in Post Office Park on Wednesday from sunrise to sunset.

The group is hoping to remind people that homelessness is not just a problem in the winter months, but on days like this, too. And it’s a growing problem in Portland, as shelters run out of room.

The group is led by people who once were homeless, working to find opportunities and assistance for people trying hard to get off the streets.
